Fourth Night [Action/Voice, Backdated to April 12th]

[Action]

[Naoya and Dilandau are safely behind bars in the tunnels, secured and locked away with no weapons.   And right now he made sure to take every key to the prisons and secure the entrance with a padlock of his own.  It should be strong enough to hold anyone attempting to break them out for now.

First thing's first.  He needs to track down the woman named Yuzu that Naoya spoke to.  She did not sympathize with him, but knows of him and his weapon system.  Possessing Dilandau's COMP, he will actively seek her out for questioning and follow up on any leads he can.]

[Voice]

[After speaking with Yuzu and following up where the leads take him, Batman will reluctantly open a voice communication.  Someone has to make the announcement.   He's not much of a talker and he's never been good with people.  But it needs to be done.]

Attention, citizens of Luceti.  Dilandau and Naoya have been detained in the murder of Kohaku, a fellow citizen of Luceti.   They will remain in custody until such a time that the people of this village agree on a just punishment or until they are properly tried by a court of law.   That is all.

Detained... [Meaning not killed. Vash will let out a small relieved sigh, not meaning for the journal to pick up. He likes you so far - you creepy bat man.]

[...You are promptly getting filed away into the "potential threat to peace" folder.]

...What you suggest is little better than the blood feuds of an era long past. Law exists to prevent that sort of barbarism.

Mmm. You sound accustomed to work like this.

[a grunt at that.] I'd be more worried about it happening again. Dilandau has been speaking to Kefka, as well.

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. And they will remain that way for now.

[identity profile] belmontlegacy.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
I find it hard to believe that you can assure that justice will be done.

I'm assuming they're in the tunnels? [He wants to make sure they'll be getting fed and maybe slap Dilandau.]

Not surprising. The man has an obsession with magic. Kefka is a like-minded individual with a taste for destruction. Dilandau would be the perfect puppet for a man like Kefka.

We'll have to see to it that he does not get the oppurtunity to fall under his influence.

[...The answer to that is yes. But this is a precaution.]

...Understand I cannot freely give out such information. There are those that would mean to take justice into their own hands if made public.

Politicians, stuffing pockets, passing whatever laws people will pay them to. Jail cells feature revolving doors, letting criminals go free too soon. Juries easily corrupted. Law too inefficient in current state, needs repair.

I understand.

And I'm also assuming you understand there is more than just detaining people isn't where it ends. Are you going to be able to care for them until the right form of justice is decided upon? [Yeah, he worries about criminals well being.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
I don't decide what justice is. The people must. Place your faith in the good people of this village to do the right thing.

[The longer you talk the less your sharpness surprises him. What kind of job did you used to do, anyway?]

No doubt. Though I fear it's too late for that... Dilandau is already fond of him, judging by what he's said to me. [Ginko shakes his head] Dilandau isn't completely unhinged. I lived with him for a few days-- and he was fine. A brat, but not dangerous at all.

[a pause. Quietly] ...why Kohaku?

[He'd expect nothing less from what data he's gathered on you, Vash.]

Arrangements have been made.

Alright then.

She was Naoya's target. From what I understand, he made an attempt on her life before and failed. This time he didn't want her to slip away.

A man of Naoya's level of madness cares little for life or anything that represents the force of good. Kohaku is an angel, a living symbol of holiness and light. To him, extinguishing that light brought him a powerful sense of self-satisfaction and an elevation above that of a mere mortal.

[...Scared yet, Ginko?]

[identity profile] pinkribbons.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
[She just stares for the moment, not even looking at the COMP yet. She's never cared much about superheroes - but Hero, unsurprisingly, does. After hanging out with him for so long it's hard not to pick up something. He'd even dragged her to 'The Dark Knight' when it came out.]

...It's too much to hope you're a cosplayer, isn't it?

[Voice]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
The law is not perfect. But it is what it is. Justice can't be found in the magazine of a gun.

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[...His eyes narrow a little bit at this response, but otherwise he remains motionless. Well? Are you going to agree to talk?]

[Voice]

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
...Kohaku was....

[Trails off, horrified silence.]

[identity profile] pinkribbons.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Forgive her, Bats, fictional people being real is something she's still not used to. She sighs at the glare, even though it's making her nervous.]

Sorry. I bet you get that a lot. [but what would Batman want with - oh. She finally notices the COMP, and frowns.]

Where'd you find this?

[She's sure she already knows the answer.]

[...He knows that tone. Too well. Honestly, Batman's heart sinks, thinking back to the night his parents were killed. Hearing people gasp at the news not long after. The shock. ...It's never left his mind over the years. He allows sympathy into his voice when he responds to Terra.]

...I'm sorry.

[identity profile] belmontlegacy.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
No. I need to start acting like a Belmont. To do the right thing, even if it means others hate me for it.

[His glare loosens considerably back into his normal, impenetrable face.]

...A man named Dilandau used it in the murder of an innocent. It was given to him by a man named Naoya.

[The mushi-master has seen too much humanity for evil to be very surprising. The image imprint merely shows him nod. And what is fear to thwart curiosity?]

Hnn. Those are signs and symbols outside of my experience-- but I'm afraid that the concept you describe is not. [a thoughtful pause] Is Naoya physically dangerous-- or possessed of some kind of power? I'd be surprised if he really needed Dilandau to do the killing for him. I was under the impression that the boy is none too strong without his world's weapons.
