Fourth Night [Action/Voice, Backdated to April 12th]

[Action]

[Naoya and Dilandau are safely behind bars in the tunnels, secured and locked away with no weapons.   And right now he made sure to take every key to the prisons and secure the entrance with a padlock of his own.  It should be strong enough to hold anyone attempting to break them out for now.

First thing's first.  He needs to track down the woman named Yuzu that Naoya spoke to.  She did not sympathize with him, but knows of him and his weapon system.  Possessing Dilandau's COMP, he will actively seek her out for questioning and follow up on any leads he can.]

[Voice]

[After speaking with Yuzu and following up where the leads take him, Batman will reluctantly open a voice communication.  Someone has to make the announcement.   He's not much of a talker and he's never been good with people.  But it needs to be done.]

Attention, citizens of Luceti.  Dilandau and Naoya have been detained in the murder of Kohaku, a fellow citizen of Luceti.   They will remain in custody until such a time that the people of this village agree on a just punishment or until they are properly tried by a court of law.   That is all.

...properly tried?

[Now there's a pleasant surprise. As Dilandau's original warning was locked from him, Ginko has only just caught up with unfolding events. Mildly--]

...and what exactly makes for justice in a world without death-- where "detainment" is just a prison within a prison?

[Having just figured out the voice function by this point, Rorschach decides to respond and test it out.]

Good. Criminals should not go unpunished. Should not slip through cracks of justice system. Should pay for their sins. [He'd rather have them dead so they can't harm anyone again, but arrested is acceptable... barely.]

[Yuzu's not so hard to find today, for someone like Batman anyway. She's in the Brigade HQ, alone, working on Haruki's latest busywork for her - producing advertising fliers. Since a copy machine hasn't fallen into Luceti yet she's working steadily to make each one by hand. It's a tiring task after the first few and that may be why the message is rather.... colloquial, so to speak.]

A "just punishment?" What would you personally consider a "just punishment?"

As far as I'm concerned, they can rot in the tunnels for eternity.

[Especially Dilandau.]

Dilandau's an idiot.

Oh? And then what? They get released like the Medic?

Detained... [Meaning not killed. Vash will let out a small relieved sigh, not meaning for the journal to pick up. He likes you so far - you creepy bat man.]

...Kohaku was....

[Trails off, horrified silence.]

Good, they should not remain unpunished and that will definitely be far worse than death would be.

[There's a bit of a thud. Emma actually drops her journal.]

...Murder? Here?

((OOC: Would following those leads include speaking to Atsuro? Figured it would be best to ask before I have him hear about it through this post.))

You captured them? [...] That's...good. Kohaku was returned earlier, as well.

[She's also surprised to hear about Kohaku's murder; as a child she was rather ignorant about everything going on.]

...Thank you for telling everyone. Has Kohaku come back? Or... [They usually do, from everything's she's heard, but it's not a sure thing.]

Thank you for doing this, sir.

[For some reason, ν-13 doesn't like the sound of this one bit, and it's definitely not because of the mention of yet another murder.]

Tried... by a court of law...?

... What? A murder? In a place like this?

[identity profile] chaoticelement.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Court of law~? I'll be happy to help~! After all, as High Court Mage of the Gestahlian Empire, I was often called upon to help my Emperor oversee the trials of various high-profile criminals.

[Of course those 'criminals' usually turned out to be peaceful revolutionaries brought in on trumped up charges, but hey, Kefka was given free reign to exercise his love of the dramatic to instill fear into those that would imitate such revolutionaries.]

Tried in a court of law... [Thrall sounds thoughtful, as though he's been considering something for some time now.] Could you explain how such things work on your world, sir?

[Right now, that's the best Molly can do. And she has something serious to tell him.]

... Uh. Bats?

[Recently, it's been fairly safe to assume that Atsuro can be found in his apartment at most times outside of school hours and Brigade meetings. Today's no exception. He hasn't been paying much attention to the journal network, even if it means Naoya will reprimand him for not keeping up with his hacking duties; he's just lying on the couch, thinking about stuff, certainly not expecting any visitors.]
