The Tenth Night [Action]

[To the surprise of no one, Batman has been hard at work in his room with a series of chemicals and scientific equipment.  Next to him are several pieces of equipment, but prominently are the little spheres he usually stores smoke in.   He appears to be tooling with creating compounds to go into them, if you're scientifically minded and in his house.

However, Batman's left his door open.  This is probably unusual.  Housemates, you know you want to bother Bruce while he's hard at work.

Of course, Batman wouldn't be Batman if he didn't go out on patrol when night falls.  He'll be floating around his usual haunts on patrol, not really expecting to find anything wrong.  There almost never is.  But old habits die hard.  Maybe someone will catch a glimpse of the Dark Knight tonight.]

[Catching a glimpse isn't as much of an option where Itachi is concerned, being blind without his Sharingan. With it activated, however, he might notice a fleeting bit of chakra movement.

The ninja is at the river on the edge of town, testing the limits of his chakra capabilities. He's done this several times since he arrived, but there's always the possibility that the level in which they're restricted might vary. He has to be aware of this sort of thing.

Every so often, he'll blow a fireball over the surface of the water, lighting up the area around him.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-10 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[When Batman notices the lighting effects, he makes sure to keep far away, watching the ninja carefully, but doing little to make his presence known. Of course, he doesn't know about the blindness, so he remains as cautious about his hiding as he normally would.

Blowing fire. It's not something you see every day, so it's worth watching for study.]

[/BARGES IN]

What are you doing now?

[personal profile] endgames 2010-12-10 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh look, another ninja. This one just casually walking along.

...Before he makes a sudden jump for the treeline when the average onlooker wouldn't be around to see it. He's back on the path five seconds later, acting as if he'd never left it.]

[identity profile] yourhatred.livejournal.com 2010-12-10 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[After a bit, Itachi sits down at the river's edge, worn out for the moment. His eyes go red, and he scans the area around him for chakra signatures automatically.

He might pause just briefly while glancing in Batman's direction, but then the color fades from his eyes and he goes back to focusing on simple meditation.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
[He observes that jump, and admittedly finds it curious why he would make it at all. When he's passed by enough that he won't be detected he'll check the treeline for anything that might've been left behind.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Glowing red eyes, and he hesitated when he looked in his direction. Had he been detected? Didn't matter. Even he had been, this individual clearly wasn't doing anything unusual. For Luceti at least.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh surprise, how about that. But no really, he actually doesn't sound as annoyed as one might expect for someone interrupting his work.]

Replicating a weapon I used back in our dimension.

[Searching will all yield a small bundle of papers hidden inside the trunk of the tree. It's not an easy find - you have to climb high enough, for one, and the hole isn't large.

The papers are all exactly the same - hand-cut and stylized, with the kanji for 'explode' written on them in the middle. Despite that, touching them won't actually make them detonate. WHAT DO YOU DO.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Actually, Batman can read Japanese, so... he recognizes the kanji. "Explode." Realization hits. Ninja. Batman quickly gets out of the tree and opens some distance, thinking the papers might actually be weaponized.

Of course he has no idea they won't explode. But in his line of work and experience with ninja, caution is always a watchword. He'll endeavor to stay out of sight still, but he's watching that tree for a bit.]
endgames: (Listening)

[personal profile] endgames 2010-12-11 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Said ninja? Already circled back and was keeping an eye on the tree himself. He sits in another tree on the opposite end of the path, visible only if you're looking. Doesn't matter much, because confident no one else is passing through here, he doesn't mind giving away his position.]

Maah, how troublesome. Looks like I'm gonna have to find a new hiding spot.

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Batman quickly looks over to the source of the voice, ready to fight if he has to.]

Playing messenger for someone?
endgames: (Shrug)

[personal profile] endgames 2010-12-11 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
No one to play messenger for. [No worries, Bats. He seems perfectly content to sit here. In fact, he seems to be trying to pass himself off as non-agressive as possible, keeping his hands folded behind his head and watching the sky.] Those aren't the kind of messages I like to send in the first place.

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
If those papers were any indication, it'd look like you preferred to leave the more explosive message.

[identity profile] orchidsandfire.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Which one?

[She plops down on the edge of his bed. It's a familiar action.]
endgames: (Uh-huh)

[personal profile] endgames 2010-12-11 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Aha. So he knew what they were for. Impressive.]

Only when necessary. Just because they say they'll explode doesn't mean they will. Kinda like you wearing a bat on your chest doesn't mean you'll turn into one and bite me.

[He hopes not, anyways.]

[identity profile] yourhatred.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
[After a few moments more, Itachi flings an arm out without turning, sending a kunai flying in the direction of whoever was watching. It's not aimed to hit.]

[identity profile] lookslikeajob.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Being the most polite of the housemates (save Alfred), Clark actually knocks on the open door first.]

Is this supposed to be open, Batman?

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
[He can tell from the trajectory that it's not aimed to hit, but it's time to send a message of his own.

Batman sends a batarang at the kunai to knock it off course even further. Otherwise he makes no other moves.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Knockout gas. Experience shows it'll be even more useful here than it was at home.

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Deception and misdirection. Cornerstones in assassination. Given your use of kanji, I assume you are ninja.

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
For once, yes.

[He mixes the chemicals he was working with. Odds are Clark's super senses will be able to pick up the smell of the reaction.]

[identity profile] lookslikeajob.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, well I guess if it wasn't supposed to be, it wouldn't be.

[Having received tacit permission, he walks up to his friend a quick sniff from the air and a check of his memory is all he needs to figure out what Bats is up to.] Knockout gas? That could definitely be useful.

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
After encountering some of the scum here, this is one of the only reliable ways to take most of them down.

Assuming of course, they need to breathe.
