Fourth Night [Action/Voice, Backdated to April 12th]

[Action]

[Naoya and Dilandau are safely behind bars in the tunnels, secured and locked away with no weapons.   And right now he made sure to take every key to the prisons and secure the entrance with a padlock of his own.  It should be strong enough to hold anyone attempting to break them out for now.

First thing's first.  He needs to track down the woman named Yuzu that Naoya spoke to.  She did not sympathize with him, but knows of him and his weapon system.  Possessing Dilandau's COMP, he will actively seek her out for questioning and follow up on any leads he can.]

[Voice]

[After speaking with Yuzu and following up where the leads take him, Batman will reluctantly open a voice communication.  Someone has to make the announcement.   He's not much of a talker and he's never been good with people.  But it needs to be done.]

Attention, citizens of Luceti.  Dilandau and Naoya have been detained in the murder of Kohaku, a fellow citizen of Luceti.   They will remain in custody until such a time that the people of this village agree on a just punishment or until they are properly tried by a court of law.   That is all.

[Yeah, he obviously isn't expecting that sudden loud noise behind him, if the way he bolts upright with a yelp is any indication. He turns his head to look behind him, not entirely sure of who he's talking to.]

Y-yes? Who's there?

[He emerges from one of the other rooms. At first, he only reveals his silhouette, but then he comes forward into plain view, though he says nothing yet.]

[He recognizes Bats at the silhouette (who wouldn't?) but isn't quite sure if he should be relieved or not; generally, previously-fictional vigilantes sneaking into your apartment should be somewhat worrying, especially if they aren't saying anything. He's not quite afraid yet, but he's still going to refrain from pointing out that he would have opened the door for him.]

...You're Batman, right? Haruki mentioned that you were here. Can I help you?

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-04-18 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
We need to talk. About the devices Naoya gave you.

[His voice darkens some, but it's not directed at Atsuro.]

...And about Naoya.

[identity profile] controlroute.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
...What about Naoya?

[He's surprised he manages to keep his tone as steady as he does; it doesn't take his full brainpower to guess that he's done something bad, considering that a superhero is here talking to about him in that voice. It's worrying to think that he almost expected something like this (minus the superhero), but he's trying his best to keep his attention on the conversation at hand.]

[Batman's nothing if not to the point. He pulls out Dilandau's COMP from his utility belt.]

Naoya was responsible for giving an individual with known mental instability a lethal weapon in return for killing another citizen of this village.

I want to know why. And everything you can tell me about this device.

[identity profile] controlroute.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Atsuro sighs, squeezing his eyes shut. After that whole Kohaku incident a while back, he's been a little more prepared for something like this, but that doesn't mean it hurts any less.] Naoya...

I'm sorry, but I don't know how much I can tell you about why he would do something like that. His mind works on a completely different level than anyone else's. I could talk to him about it, but while I'm probably closer to him than anyone else here, I don't know how much he'd be willing to divulge to me. I want to say he had a good reason for doing so, but if someone died because of his actions, I'm not sure if I can.

A-as for the COMP, I might be a little more helpful. What do you know already? I don't want to bore you with redundant explanations.

It's a device that is used to summon demons to this plane and it can impart their powers upon human users.

In theory, yes. We're still not entirely sure whether it can summon demons here. That woman offered to teach us how to do it, but I haven't heard anything else from her lately, and it's not really clear whether it would be safe to do so. It also has a feature called the Harmonizer that somehow adjusts power levels so that humans can fight demons. It's unclear whether that just works on demons from our world or any other kind of creatures though.

As for exactly how it summons demons, the COMPs don't do anything special. They're basically just used to access the main server, which handles all the actual processing. I get the tech to a certain extent, but anything related to the actual demons and their magic is beyond my area of expertise.

Given that summoning of all sorts is blocked by the Malnosso, I doubt the technological route will yield any more fruit than the magical one.

...Where is the main server?

That's what we thought too, but a while back, the woman behind ANI told us that she'd discovered a way around the blocking... She just hasn't contacted us since then. I think it was almost a month ago.

Tokyo. Around the center of the Yamanote Line.
