First Night [Action]

[In the middle of the previous night, a note will be left under the door of Clark Kent.  It reads as follows:]

Clark,

There are urgent matters to discuss.  Be on top of Community Housing 7 at midnight.

[The note is not signed and not dated.  Mysterious letter is mysterious.  The only question is whether or not Clark will meet him there at the appropriate time.   As for the rest of the night before then, Batman will keep tabs on Luceti.  He's looking for anyone in particular he might find useful.  If you want to be shadowed by this vigilante or speak with him feel free to be out and about minding your own business.  Don't worry about finding him.  He'll find you.

Be warned, he may not even stop to talk if he doesn't want to.  That's just how he is.]

[Kefka. One of the more commonly uttered names amongst the villains here. Judging by her reactions to the name, she's not in league with him. In fact... he's fairly certain he's seen her before in his research about him.

...Of course. She's one of his favored targets. Terra. What Kefka wanted with her was a mystery, but the evil mage reminded him too much of the Clown Prince of Crime. Men like him don't target people without a reason, even if it's just for some sort of punchline.

...If she's a target, she might be willing to share any information she has about his activities. But now would not be the best time for that. She's agitated and afraid. And he knows all too well his presence would be unwelcome right now.

Though that won't stop him from trailing her, keeping a fair distance away at all times. If she heads too far out of the village, though, he'll leave. He's got other things to look into as well tonight...]

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Terra does continue with the intent to head out quite far from the village, only pausing every now and then to be certain that she's not followed. Whether or not Batman sees it, at some point, she sheds her human appearance and become a glowing being, gliding amongst the trees. Such breaks help calm her down.]

The Malnosso are not something we can deal with. As long as they are outside the barrier, we can't touch them. Yet.

Right now our immediate concern is those that do intend to kill and maim the people here. Tell me the ones you're aware of and what you know.

[...Batman probably already knows, but Superman needs to be filled in for anything he overlooked. ...Which was probably a lot, in his opinion.]

[There's a particularly loud blast at one point, thanks to a Flare spell. After staring at the thoroughly destroyed dummies, a somewhat less tense Rydia sits down on one of the benches, shoulders sagging. That was a lot of energy to expend in one session.]

[identity profile] lookslikeajob.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
As if there's anything I can tell you that you wouldn't already know.

[He folds his arms in thought, bringing a hand to his chin.] I've heard a lot about a demon named Yuber, who keeps to the forest. There's a man with white hair, I haven't caught the name, who keeps talking about fire and killing, though as far as I can tell he's all talk. Then there are some conflicting reports on a man named Kefka, who if the ones against him are right sounds an awful lot like the Joker. Also a man named Kadaj, been described as silver-haired with a double-bladed sword, with a habit of trying to spread some sort of plague.

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Just as he's about to turn and leave, he will see that, not that he has any clue what it is. He watches her glide and fly around for a moment through the trees. Clearly, she has great control. Though... it may be the reason Kefka's after her. For now, though... he's going to leave the scene. But now, he'll have to find time to speak with her.]

[He's not going to get much more of a show for a while, as Katara repeats that form and repeats it, until she gradually begins to pick up speed. She's not going to be satisfied until she manages to cut the wood in a precise half. If he sticks around long enough, though, he'll get to watch her return the water hovering above her head and then begin to practice her aim. With numerous ice spikes the size of her forearm, she's going to attempt to hit the numerous targets she's provided with those halves of wood. It's clear that she's concentrating very hard, and is handling a large volume of water - and that the vast majority of those ice spikes strike perfectly true.]

The man whose name you don't have is "Dilandau." He hasn't done anything yet, but he's highly volatile and mentally unstable. He won't be "all talk" if you take your eyes off him.

And Kefka should be of great concern to you. He is a powerful wizard with mastery in several arcane arts. Combined with his mental instability, he makes for a very dangerous opponent. Especially to you.

Yuber attacks his victims in the forest, but I doubt he operates from there. It's too close to the village, especially for one with the ability to teleport at will.

There's also the matter of the self proclaimed "Forest God" Moro. She cannot be ignored either. Though she has not acted in aggression recently, her sheer power and size make her a danger to every person in this village. It would be wise not to agitate her needlessly.

[identity profile] wings-thatwait.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
O-oh.

If they were here, I'd... I'd be happy to install a limb or two, but even then there's limited amount of materials. The metal has been alright to find, but wires are a different...

[identity profile] lookslikeajob.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[He takes in the information quietly and calmly, nodding at the more important bits... his eyes narrow particularly at the description of Kefka as a powerful wizard. A man with that kind of power and a mind like Joker's..]

Trust you to figure that much out in just a few days. And I was already on guard about Kefka, for the record. Any man with a mind like that would put any Leaguer on edge.

What do you think would set Moro off? Just entering the forest?

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[The power clearly requires great discipline and practice to utilize properly, she does seem to exude great control, especially given the power cap. It seems she has the power to change the state of matter the water is in, as well. It wouldn't be a stretch for her to turn the water into a gas an be able to manipulate that.

The chemical applications of such powers were potentially staggering. He only hoped that she wasn't able to draw the water out of whatever she wanted.

He will return and observe her practice some other time. But right now, he needs to move on, especially considering she's not doing anything malicious with her abilities.]

[identity profile] death-orange.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[here have the kid with THE GIANT KNIFE /zelda ref walking by. he's just putting said knife away, and is a bit sweaty. he's also glowing just a faint blue, and that's getting fainter and fainter as he keeps moving into town. inspect?]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
No. Moro has not simply attacked any individual who's entered the forest. She's a wolf, she's used to other species entering her territory. It's all about intent. Disturbing or taking anything she deems hers will draw her wrath. She thinks of herself as the alpha here. She'll do whatever it takes to keep that position. For a self-proclaimed god, she's little more than a feral beast that can speak.

There are others who may pose a threat. A man, Major Jin Kusaragi, appears to be of questionable stability. I haven't had enough time to dig deeply enough to figure out why, but I suspect he's a very dangerous man. There's also another I haven't been able to find much about. Someone by the name of Nu attacked a few citizens of the village a few months back. Though Nu has since been quiet, I doubt it will be an isolated incident. Keep your eyes open.

Quite the hornet's nest here.

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
They're probably of a lower quality metal or one less conductive to electricity. ...How do you manage to power these limbs without a battery of significant size?

[identity profile] lookslikeajob.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
So if we were to disturb or threaten the forest somehow, she'd react in kind. Well, at least she's predictable.

Jin Kusaragi and Nu... I'll make note of them.

Very much so. Almost feels like back home, don't you think? [He gives a little wry smile.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[That last blast was akin to an explosion from a bomb. Not good at all. Though she looked tired and expended now, he was unsure how long it would be before she could unleash that fury again. ...It was time to find out who this woman was through the journals. For now, it would be best not to disturb her.

Sliding out of earshot, Batman withdrew into the night.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[His tone will be dry, even for Batman.]

A little too much.

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
The person is the battery! Well, sort of. The wires are connected to the nervous system. The brain shoots out electrical impulses, and once converted from the port into the wires those impulses power the arm. This helps make automail fully functioning like a normal limb. It's unlike the regular non-automail prosthetic limbs in that way.

[Another warrior. Looks like he had just participated in some training, given his lack of injuries and casual gait. The glowing isn't surprising him anymore, given what he's seen tonight. He likely has some sort of magical attunement too.

Stealthily hiding in the shadows above, he observes where he's moving to. At this point, it's probably nothing out of the ordinary, but one can never be too sure.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Okay, now that causes him to raise an eyebrow, which she might actually notice. That wasn't the answer he expected at all. If he were Bruce Wayne in Gotham City right now, he'd hire her on the spot.

Developing prothestics as a family business too... Thomas Wayne would've loved the Rockbell family.]

Sounds like a real boon to humanity. You must do a lot of good for your world.

[Finishing that form, Katara lets the water return to earth and blows the hair out of her eyes with a frustrated breath. She's reached passed the limit she set for herself, that place of 'tired but still able to fight' and is pushing on towards exhausted. She should have been able to continue practicing for another hour or more. She's been trying to see how far she can push what she's used to being able to manipulate, and the fact that she can't gather and hold that much water anymore is frustrating, as is the amount of concentration and precision it now takes to do a simple water whip.]

There's got to be another way.

[And she shuffles off to sleep, completely unaware of her watcher.]

[reaching his apartment, he takes a quick shower, and then begins to attempt some kind of dinner. looks like it's curry again tonight. :|]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-03-05 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nothing strange here. For now Batman simply leaves. He won't learn anything about his abilities if he's not going to be fighting. There's still a lot to do tonight...]

[At first, he senses nothing but the stirring wind and flickering shadows of dusk across the ground. It's only once he's about halfway there that a sharp shift in the air causes him to grind to a halt; the whisper of drawn metal sounds like an evening breeze. Only silence touches on his senses, but he's almost positive that there's someone out here. Someone good.]
