cowledcrusader: (Bruce Wayne)

[The feed opens to a picture of a familiar, if somewhat low key face.  Either way, he'll begin speaking in a friendly, pretty down to earth tone.]

Good afternoon, Luceti!  Your trusted accountant, Gaff Morgan speaking.  After the shift yesterday I thought I'd check in and offer up some help.  If anyone is unsure of any assets or belongings they have are missing, if you've filed any information with me I can provide it to you to make sure no one lost anything.  I'll be at my office most of this afternoon if anyone needs my services, and I'll make house calls if I have time and they're needed.

And also, if anyone needs any financial help or advice, that's what I'm here for!

[Action]

[Even when the village has entered an alternate universe, the vigilante known as Batman is still present in the village.  This Batman is more personable, but every bit the same master of stealth and infiltration.  He'll be doing his nightly patrol around the village... and yet, no one suspects that mild mannered accountant Gaff Morgan to really be Batman, Luceti's greatest detective!  Of course, there is also the matter of the other Batman in village too... his son, Terry.  He might be with him as well.]

[Earlier in the week, Bruce, or perhaps more properly, "Gaff", managed to find his Batsuit and equipment, hopefully before prying eyes discovered them.  Since then he had done minimal patrols around the village.

But today was different.  Previously unafflicted by the experiment, tonight Batman has been suddenly, and rather surprisingly hit with a species change.  And though it is not apparent outwardly... to him it's obvious.  Suddenly, he can hear just about anything, see things from miles away, and has an infinite amount of stamina.  It's unnatural, and it bothers him a great deal.  And that's to say nothing of all of the other powers he just picked up from becoming Kryptonian....

Nevertheless, he has to continue his nightly patrols.  Of course, without full control of these powers, he's liable to either make a mistake or two, or just have plain strange things happen.  He might even be seen flying.

Of course, how he's encountered could easily vary.  Either way, expect him to be doing his normal observation... as best as he can, anyway.  Mishaps are bound to happen when the world is made of cardboard.]

[It's been a week now since Bruce landed in Luceti.  Being the detective he is renowned for back home, he was quick to study Luceti, the guide, and other aspects about the place as quickly as he could.  Being caught unprepared might be lethal.  So when he was confident he had absorbed enough through the guide, simple experimentation, and the like, he decided to strike it out and learn more about the people here.  He already discovered the existence of something called a "Justice League" here, but there was only one name that rung a bell.  Superman.  He didn't know who the Man of Steel was, save that he was a metahuman from Metropolis.  Relatively speaking, he was a new guy.   For now, though, he was going to avoid contact with him if at all possible.  If he was from his world, he might recognize him as Bruce Wayne, something he didn't want to risk.

Especially considering his Batman gear hadn't shown up yet.  Bruce was doing his best to gather supplies under the radar in case they didn't show up, but given Luceti's low-tech level, getting most of the gear he was acclimated to would be difficult without help.  But that wasn't about to stop him.

But either way.  Bruce will be wondering around Luceti for most of today, loitering at the library to read some, stopping by Good Spirits for a cup of coffee, browsing the stores, and making a stop at the Smithy.   He's a man on a mission.  Meet people, learn more about this place if at all possible.  And to play up his act a bit more, if you're a beautiful woman, expect him to be extra polite.  And don't be offended if he doesn't introduce himself as Bruce Wayne... a man has to be extra cautious in the unknown.]

(OOC: Replies will come from
[info]nocapesorcowls .  Members of the League who can identify him as Bruce Wayne may do well to keep their distance for now as a matter of preference, or expect to be lied to.  A lot.)
cowledcrusader: (Wiped Out)

[The thing about sudden influxes of people means Batman's constantly busy and can't inevitably stay away from everyone because they're everywhere.  So most of his stalking he expects to be bothered... and in fact, it probably will be.

He'll be out in the open a few times today, investigating inevitable disturbances in the village.]

cowledcrusader: (Thinking)
[To the surprise of no one, Batman has been hard at work in his room with a series of chemicals and scientific equipment.  Next to him are several pieces of equipment, but prominently are the little spheres he usually stores smoke in.   He appears to be tooling with creating compounds to go into them, if you're scientifically minded and in his house.

However, Batman's left his door open.  This is probably unusual.  Housemates, you know you want to bother Bruce while he's hard at work.

Of course, Batman wouldn't be Batman if he didn't go out on patrol when night falls.  He'll be floating around his usual haunts on patrol, not really expecting to find anything wrong.  There almost never is.  But old habits die hard.  Maybe someone will catch a glimpse of the Dark Knight tonight.]
cowledcrusader: (Weathering the Storm)
[After some of the initial planning for the attack has been made, Batman found himself in possession of a certain sword.  Now, to make good on his ability of getting it back to the Samurai when he needed it most.  And there was one person he knew he could turn to that was heading to the front lines.  Plus... he could prove helpful in getting Batman some of his much needed equipment when the time comes.]

Sonic,

Meet me outside Community Building Seven in two hours.  There is a matter I wish to discuss concerning the Blue Rogues.

[The message is signed with a drawn version of the bat symbol.  Of course, the end part is a lie.  But if the Rogue Malnosso are observing him, he needs to make this look good.  He's hoping Sonic can figure out that he's putting on a show.]
cowledcrusader: (Bruce Wayne)
[It's been a fairly uneventful week for Bruce Wayne, who has been enjoying himself in Luceti, despite how dull it is in comparison to Gotham City.  He's been spending most of the week wandering around town, and thankfully because Batman's not the most social of creatures, he isn't much confused by a lot of the people he's running into.

So.  For all intents, there's a comfortably dressed, tall man who most people probably haven't seen much of in the past.  Unlike Batman, this Bruce is a social creature, given that his parents never died and he was never Batman to begin with.   Bruce will be wandering around town most of the day in various places, so he might run into your character... or you can approach him and see who this guy is.

However, after the day is done, Bruce returns to his house that he shares with the Justice League.  He'll make his way to his own room, which seems uncharacteristically bare.   It hasn't bothered him much, though when he decides to go get a change of clothes for after taking a shower, he stumbles upon a hidden compartment in his closet.

...Inside the closet is his Batsuit... or rather, Batman's batsuit... as well as several pieces of his crimefighting equipment.  Utterly shocked, Bruce takes out some of it and begins examining it.  Housemates are free to catch him making the discovery of "his" gear.]

...What is all of this?

[OOC: For purposes of tagging, I will be using [info]nocapesorcowls  from here out.]
cowledcrusader: (Errr....)
[It had been several days now.   He had done his homework, searching all of his known haunts and hideouts.  Everything yielded nothing at all.  Ironically, that was far more conclusive than any other evidence he could possibly hope to find.   Batman will make a short announcement over the journal system.  He remains somewhat guarded, but perhaps this finally meant they won a battle.]

Kefka Palazzo has been returned to his home dimension.  As of a few days ago, his threat to the village is over.

[Action]

[Now unburdened with taking care of a prisoner, Batman is now free to do many more other things, like stalk the village again like the creeper he is.  But today, something different happens.  Along one of the paths in the village, he encounters a strange purple blob crawlin' along.  When he goes to investigate, the strange blob turns to face him with a face full of derp.  Batman pauses, and returns that stare, not saying a word.  The creature clearly acknowledges his presence, and doesn't seem at all bothered by him.  Or aggressive.  But then, Batman blinks.  And suddenly, that purple blob is almost an exact replica of himself.  ...Except with the derpface.

...That's right.  Batman's found Clayface Ditto.  Blue, and anyone else are free to stumble across this, so long as no actions taken prevent Ditto from being reunited with its trainer.]
cowledcrusader: (Normal)
[It's been a long couple of weeks.  Between falling trees, killer butterflies, a rash of disappearances with most who returned telling the same story, there was enough to keep the Dark Knight busy behind the scenes.  But it gets better.  Green Lantern, Terra, Hellboy, and Adell had brought in Kefka of all people as a prisoner into the tunnels.  This made Batman happy beneath that cold stoic exterior, but it didn't last long.  He instantly took extra precautions for dealing with Kefka being down there and preventing another escape.  Without advanced technology like in his Batcave, he was forced to jury-rig a lot of traps.  Many of them are surprisingly effective, but not nearly as reliable as he would like.  A chief difference this time is that Batman has trapped all of the locks leading into the prison wing; anyone attempting to pick the locks will receive a nasty (but non-lethal) electric shock.  He doesn't want someone breaking Kefka out or him having an easy time leaving if he manages to find a way out.  The point is, getting to the prison cells is far more difficult now than it used to be.    These traps can be disabled, but such a thing would take time and would be reasonably difficult.

There is a sign before the traps begin though.  It simply reads:  Secure Prison Wing: No Entry Permitted Without A Justice League Escort.

The Blue Rogues might have some leeway if the issue gets brought up.  But you have been warned.

Anyway, the other part of his two weeks has been doing a lot of menial recordkeeping and research.   For many hours, his housemates will have no doubt noticed he's been working in one of the rooms he's claimed as his.  Inside this room, there are bookcases filled with various books on forensic sciences, psychology, chemistry, physics, criminal science, and many more types, as well as filing cabinets stuff with notes and records Batman has taken over his time in Luceti.  There's also a ton of scientific equipment; most of it you'd expect to find in a high school science lab.  Batman's access to higher technology has been limited, but he's been working with what he can take from the stores.  The windows are covered shut to make sure no one can see inside, and it's clear he's experimenting with ways to recreate some of his gear.  His housemates are free to enter this workroom if they so wish.  He keeps his most secret records in another location.   Yeah, he's kind of paranoid.

His current project is still experimenting and analyzing the corpses of a few Tease he had recovered.   When night falls, Batman will go out on nightly patrol for trouble.  And to raid the store for more scientific equipment.  But before he leaves...]

Terra.  I'd like to speak with you.
cowledcrusader: (Weathering the Storm)
[...Okay.  For a fact, those robots cannot be stopped.  Yet.   While standing guard and speaking with Detective Kiyone in the tunnels regarding the prisoners several days ago, the Malnosso's robotic abductors broke into the prison where Naoya and Dilandau were being held.  Batman and Kiyone put up a fight against the machines, but were ultimately pacified and subdued by them before they took Naoya right out of the prison.  Batman, for his part, ended up hurt pretty badly, so he's been in hiding for the past several days, only occasionally returning to meet with the League, and never for very long.  The event didn't help matters at all.

And then there was Dilandau's escape.  How he managed to get hold of his journal was a mystery to him.  He certainly never let him have it... and investigations into the matter have so far yielded no results.  This has been a very unpleasant streak for the Caped Crusader. …Of course, with Kiyone now missing and presumably sent home for good, Batman has a lot of work to do to try to fix the damage done by the Malnosso.

Now fully healed and ready to jump back into action, he's going to head back to League Headquarters (such as it is) and meet with his associates.  Afterward, he's going on the hunt.  Both for information on the escape (anyone connected with Dilandau or who talked with him over the journal) and for Dilandau and Naoya themselves.  If he has any say in it, they're going right back into those cells.  Watch your backs, gentlemen.

But before he heads out on mission from the Justice League’s house, he's got a few calls to make.]

I have need of your services again.

[Filtered 100% to Yuzu and Atsuro]

As you know by now, Naoya is loose.  If you two have any idea of his whereabouts, contact me immediately.   Do not let your COMP devices out of your sight.

[Batman will now be going out on patrol. If you’re doing something suspicious, the Dark Knight might be watching.   Housemates can catch him earlier in the day.]

[Action]

[Naoya and Dilandau are safely behind bars in the tunnels, secured and locked away with no weapons.   And right now he made sure to take every key to the prisons and secure the entrance with a padlock of his own.  It should be strong enough to hold anyone attempting to break them out for now.

First thing's first.  He needs to track down the woman named Yuzu that Naoya spoke to.  She did not sympathize with him, but knows of him and his weapon system.  Possessing Dilandau's COMP, he will actively seek her out for questioning and follow up on any leads he can.]

[Voice]

[After speaking with Yuzu and following up where the leads take him, Batman will reluctantly open a voice communication.  Someone has to make the announcement.   He's not much of a talker and he's never been good with people.  But it needs to be done.]

Attention, citizens of Luceti.  Dilandau and Naoya have been detained in the murder of Kohaku, a fellow citizen of Luceti.   They will remain in custody until such a time that the people of this village agree on a just punishment or until they are properly tried by a court of law.   That is all.

[It was time to put the plan into full swing.  Now, to draw the Remnants out of hiding so they may be apprehended.  For the first time, Batman opens up a transmission on his journal without using a filter.  What better way to draw their wrath than by publically calling them out?...]

Attention, Remnants of Sephiroth.

Have you had quite enough of throwing your childish little tantrums yet?  You will not accomplish anything.  And do you want to know why?

Because you are incomplete.  You are both weak.  And it's no wonder Loz left you like he did.

There's a large clearing north of the village in the forest.   ...If you want to prove me wrong, go there.  Now.

[...Too much time had passed.  Investigations had run their course.  Confident in his ability to discern the accuracy of all the accounts and evidence, it was time.  Four murders, all with the same modus operandi.  Two suspects, named, and clearly psychotic and careless.  Kadaj and Yazoo, the Remnants of Sephiroth… like wild dogs demanding attention, they took their frustrations out upon the villagers, killing four innocents.

The Dark Knight has decided that it’s time to put these dogs down.  Carefully drawing up the most powerful filters he can, he prepares to call for several meetings with various individuals of interest.  Both in the case of Yazoo and Kadaj, as well as others…]

[In the middle of the previous night, a note will be left under the door of Clark Kent.  It reads as follows:]

Clark,

There are urgent matters to discuss.  Be on top of Community Housing 7 at midnight.

[The note is not signed and not dated.  Mysterious letter is mysterious.  The only question is whether or not Clark will meet him there at the appropriate time.   As for the rest of the night before then, Batman will keep tabs on Luceti.  He's looking for anyone in particular he might find useful.  If you want to be shadowed by this vigilante or speak with him feel free to be out and about minding your own business.  Don't worry about finding him.  He'll find you.

Be warned, he may not even stop to talk if he doesn't want to.  That's just how he is.]
cowledcrusader: (Thinking)
Okay, this is very important.  Luceti, I need your help with this one.  Batman can be a potentially godmoddy character to play if people aren't aware of what he can and can't do.   So what I need is for people to throw me a bone here and work with me.

I'm sure all of you are aware Batman is the world's greatest detective.  That means he's bound to find out things about your characters you might not want him to.  He will constantly be rolling through journals, keeping tabs on what people say and do, especially people he dubs of interest.  Anything you post on the journal that's not filtered is subject to being brought back up by this guy if it's necessary.   But what's really important and vital is Batman's ability to read people, track them, and investigate them.

Reading people's reactions are very important.  If you want Batman to be able to read your muses' body language like a book, you need to let me know that's okay.  Essentially, it's asking how much of the brackets Batman can read into.   Please, tell me how much is good for your characters, and where the line is.   If you're character is an exceptionally gifted liar, the line might not be very far.  So please, tell me where the line is so I don't break your experience with him.  That's the last thing I want to do.

As for tracking and investigating, I need permission for that too.  How far are you willing to go without your character catching on?  Batman occasionally shadowing them in the night?  Sneaking into their houses and apartments looking for evidence of a potential crime?   And just how much do you want Bats to be able to figure out based on all of this?  And most importantly, how much should Batman be allowed to expose your muses' plots?   Please, be specific.  Again, I don't want Batman learning and exposing something that he shouldn't that might hurt someone's experience here in Luceti, but him failing to deduce and stop anything at all is out of character as well.

This post is extremely important if you play a villainous or potentially dangerous character.  Bats will track anyone he deems important, and that includes good guys, but villains are his primary target.   So please, Luceti.  Sound off!
